Maybe this could be another version of the four-years-and-counting unfinished community space at SE 72nd and Woodstock. Great idea, terrible execution. It's worse than before.

A great idea - and yes the upkeep is KEY if not city owned. Can neighbors pull it off?

Sorry to be the bad guy here, but if ever there was an incentive for a property owner to build something as soon as possible, it's stories like this.

How not to start a cooperative partnership: find a piece of vacant land, tear down the guy's fence, try to build things on it, and then start a campaign to convert it to a park without contacting the owner first. Oh and then tell everyone the "landlord" has been uncooperative. But maybe he'll let us lease it???
