I applaud your efforts in defense of the Bond themes, which are awesome.
I must, however, call your judgment seriously into question for not having put "You Only Live Twice" on top of your list, let alone for your having omitted it entirely.
I understand how it was overlooked not being the opening credit theme. Nonetheless, "We Have All the Time In the World" by Louis Armstrong is the running theme through "Her majesties secret service" and should have been included on the list.
I would put Shirley Bassey at the top. She's the Sean Connery of James Bond title songs. And where is Nancy Sinatra? Even if you didn't like IYOLT, her voice was gorgeous on that song! But overall I think you did a nice job.
Rita Coolage was just at the end of her popularity when she did the Bond theme. She was most famous for "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue", "We're All Alone" and "(Your Love Lifted Me) Higher and Higher". She used to be married to Kris Kristofferson. Excellent vocalist.

Yeah Matt, putting Duran Duran, Carly Simon and A-Ha "above" Shirley Bassey's Goldfinger or even Diamonds Are Forever, makes me understand why you don't usually write about music.
So, pistols at dawn?
Come on, now, even Lennon liked "For No One".
Especially "Live and Let Die" and "Diamonds Are Forever."
I'm going home to rewatch "Casino Royale" now.
