Really taking the "Keep Portland Weird" thing to a new level.
2
i am so confused. what happened to my bike-friendly small business supporting mayor that i voted for?

i mean, maybe he's trying to appeal to the people who live in the surrounding suburbs? maybe he's tired of people ranting at the city council meetings? what is going on?
3
What. The. Fuck.
4
This came about at Portland City Club when Sam was a speaker. Someone from the audience, who was pro-WalMart, challenged him to work as a Greeter for a day, Sam accepted.
5
i guess that helps. a mayor that takes dares.

6
Also perhaps, in response to the O's recent article stating that the City of Portland, it turns out, subsidizes the payroll for Paulson's Beavers employees. The paper noted that without the city (us, taxpayers) kicking in around $3 per hour for each employee, they were paid less than folks who work at Wal-Mart, (which also covers their health insurance and provides bennies, which Paulson does not for most employees.) Not to defend Wal-Mart, here. But it was an interesting comparison, given Sam's history with the retailer.
8
Maybe he's getting ready for June.
9
Keep Portland Bipolar!
10
Okay, so what I want to know is this: Now that Sam has made good on the audience member's dare, is said audience member now going to spend a day canvassing for the Employee Free Choice Act?
11
ready for june? i dont understand
12
We should remember that Sam used to do this kind of thing all the time, spending a day working at various menial jobs around town. I can't remember the name for that campaign. But it's not entirely out of character.
13
1/2 the shoppers at the Walmart didn't recognize the Mayor of Portland. That's some great civic involvement we got going on there.
14
They should make WalMart pay for the CRC.
15
"ready for june? i dont understand"

Recall date
16
Smiley, you're dumb.

Tell me with numbers and facts when the recall will "happen". Then go fuck yourself. Have a nice day.
17
The recall happens 6 months after swearing in. Unsure exactly when it takes effect.
Watch and learn.
19
D, do you know how to count?

Do six months of Sam Adams term occur before June?

Before you get all high and fucking mighty about your dumb fucking recall campaign, read the fucking Oregon constitution and tell me ANY way that a recall vote could possibly occur before 08/11/2009. Please base your arguments and counter-arguments on facts and numbers.

Please go fuck yourself and have a nice day.
20
At the end of June, he'll have been in office 6 months when the signatures can be filed to call for a vote.
I'm trying to make a joke.
About Sam, you know, ha ... looking for a job ... at WalMart ... rimshot.
And it's not my recall campaign.
Crybaby.
21
OH SHIT. Mayor Adams' Wal-Mart-Greeter-On-A-Dare totally makes sense now. You know what? A while back I dared Sam to make out with a teenager in a City Hall bathroom and then self-righteously lie to everyone about it! I then double-dared him to abandon all of his environmental credentials by supporting a 64-lane span across the entire state of Washington. When we couldn't agree on if he fulfilled that one or not, I said "just get rid of Memorial Coliseum, take a shit on our city's finances for the sake of a sport no American gives a shit about, and we'll just call it even." So that stuff may be partially my fault.
22
You win Colin
23
Well played, sir.
24
Colin,
where have you BEEN? I want you and another chipotle-tongued poster, annie, to get together and take TURNS, alternately posting manically about all the reasons that we wax VOLCANIC about our "mayor".
A duet poetry recall slam, if you will.
25
I am really disapointed. After fighting Wal-Mart and supporting our local smaller business' what the hell was the mayor thinking. I support Sam Adams, but this is quite odd.
26
I think we need a new town slogan. "come visit Portland, the only city where you can have a Sam Adams and be under 21 years of age"...just kidding. I am jealous.
27
I think I just saw Terry Beard doing the same thing at Wal-Mart. Slum Dog Millionaire....
28
I am SO over Sam. I don't care if he kissed some young dude. I care that he's kissing the ass of corporations and developers. After just over 100 days in office, I'm prepared to call it: He is not who he claimed to be after all.

Please wait...
