"Best interests of the City" to rename the street? *shakes 8 ball* signs point to 'no'

Matt, I normally like your posts, but why do you insist on reporting on what the Oregonian is reporting on?

This is much more important, IMO: http://save-res.blogspot.com/

"Meanwhile the city, which issued $295 million in bonds to pay for infrastructure and some building costs, has been forced to dip into its general fund to cover its debt service."

Sounds exactly like the current affairs of the bankrupt U.S. of A.!

The problem with the Rose Quarter is that it is not a convenient area where the heart of the city is.

KC has their Cordish area strategically planned to keep people leaking in and out of the P&L area. You might not go there specifically for P&L, but if you go DT in KC, you'll eventually know about it and be curious about it.

I have grave concerns with how well cordish is doing but the areas where they have spewed their retail feces appears to be failing.

Think about Portland. Portland's nightlife simply won't mass migrate over to the Rose garden as a convenient entertainment area versus downtown. Call this the "river" and "I5" factor. I suppose one could take the MAX out there, but I have a hard time believing Portland is demanding this market. Just around my office four restaurants have closed than I regularly visit.

Also, it's worth noting that the Rose Garden already has something akin to this adjacent to it already (that Cucina Cucina! and other similar crap), and it sits there being ignored, too. Mayyybe tourists would go to it, but so far, it looks like not so much.

I had to go look at the Miss CA photos. The lesson I think all women should take from this is that there is nothing wrong with smaller breasts. They are quite lovely. The real scandal here is the implants.

Wait a fracking minute. NOW you are complaining about the Blazers and Cordish? Isn't this exactly what you wanted to get accomplished by derailing the Baseball Stadium at the RQ and "saving" the Memorial Coliseum?

What, did you think you could "save" the Coliseum by simply doing nothing and bringing no money to the table?

Or did you and your pal Libby not think far enough ahead to see what most of us already saw coming which was all you did was help clear the decks for the Blazers and Paul Allen.

Now they are gonna use that URD money and essentially demolish the MC and put in a god awful "live district" and they really should name one of the faux streets "inside" (I bet they keep maybe a wall) the Coliseum: "Matt Davis/Brian Libby Way".

You own this now Matt. No running away from it. You got what you wanted and now you have to deal with the consequences like a big boy. And the consequences are gonna be the Blazers rolling right over you and whomever you try to gin up to campaign against them and getting what they want.

Didn't think this one through did ya?

Now you are scrambling to disavow - it's pretty funny.

Please wait...
