I'd like to recommend Cascade Station as a potential site... it's got lots of vacant land, no issues with noise vs. neighbors, and plenty of supporting commercial development including shopping, restaurants (overhwelmingly national chains at this point, but room for more), two light rail stations, and very close to I-205 and 82nd ave.
Blabby - I've no idea. Although siting a new stadium out there would definitely be cheaper than doing it within Portland city limits.
It just seems like a reasonable possibility that if he's pulling out of the Lents option, without waiting for the formal URA vote, he has another option up his sleeve, which we'll find out about before too long. Hillsboro, Vancouver and Salem all have fairground sites that might work, so putting two and two together (and possibly getting five...)...
Sure. This was a terrible proposal for Lents, whether or not you would have chosen to bring your regal ass to see a baseball game there or whether you will come there now. It deserved to go down.

It would seem perfect - city-owned, great location, wouldn't involve destroying the Coliseum. That page is at least 5 years old, though, so it's possible that the information is outdated (i.e. PPS no longer owns the land or wants to move, etc.).
Anything short of tearing down Eastport Plaza (again) and siting the Beav's stadium there is weak and misguided.
It is refreshing to see the name 'Amy J. Ruiz' pop up. There was a time there when it appeared as if her head was so far up Sam Adams' ass we thought she'd suffocated.
Paulson's letter. Remember...he's an evil hell breathing dragon right? Ta Ta Beavers...I hope Tuscon enjoys you.
plus the U of A and a shitload of spring training (see also: phoenix)
Stu, how do you suppose Hillsboro or Vancouver are going to pay for a stadium?

I hate to tell you, but no one's going to Lents to see baseball.

Someone in the Oregonian comments asked why this site hasn't been considered; does anyone know?

And I'm not disagreeing with you either. I think it's apparent my point is that the Lents idea was, let's say, misguided.
