Matt, I know you are a Kroger fan. But, to suggest that simply because there are 299 other AAG's in the state, Kroger's former campaign manager's employment as one of them is not suspicious is a substantially weak argument. The AAG's are hired through a higly competitive process that turns away experience attorneys with excellent credentials. Mr. Wilson graduated in 2007 from law school then went on to manage Kroger's campaign. This smacks of blatant favoritism.
Hello is spot on. Wilson is there only because of his politics. If it was wrong for Bush's DOJ, it's wrong for Kroger's. Need more convincing? Public records request the salaries of all 2007 graduates who are AAGs. I think you'll be appalled. I'm talking Monica Goodling appalled.
Actually, you would just need a list of all the AAGs and their bar numbers. The first two years of the bar number - (07) for instance - tell you which year they were admitted to the Oregon State Bar. You can find someone's bar number by looking up their name here: http://www.osbar.org/members/start.asp
Though I primarily agree with your point, it should be noted that bar number is not always determinative of experience and credentials. Attorneys transferring from out of state are also required to take the bar. One such example is John Kroger, who has a 2007 Oregon Bar Number. Harry Wilson, however, is a 2007 law school graduate with no post-graduate legal experience employed by the Appellate Division at DOJ.....
There is a list to start with here: http://www.doj.state.or.us/about/agoffice.…
