Sam has not done you any harm individually, Matt, so it is not realistic for you to "forgive" him. Your stand would make sense if you "excuse" him, however.

I have told Jasun that I'll not sign a petition for recalling Sam; neither would I vote either way on a ballot to recall him. This is the pragmatic attitude I adopted long ago when representing the public's interest on the Performing Arts Center project: political support or opposition should not be based on emotion; it ought to be based upon what an elected official has accomplished or proposes to accomplish.

In other words, "What have you done for me lately?"

In my view Sam is not a good mayor for us because his grasp of issues is insubstantial. But this does not prevent my speaking with him politely about the issues on which we agree. We had a nice little chat on the number 10 bus this morning, in fact.

> GIVEN THAT HE MAY HAVE JUST RUN HIS POLITICAL CAREER INTO ONE

Up yours, Davis. That is horseshit and you know it. Wishing doesn't make it so.

Who gave this guy a microphone, anyway?

I am now launching a recall Cogen campaign. Oustensibly it is because he has lied to us in some way, I will figure out how later, but really it is that his sexual practices offend the hell out of me... Hopefully enough other people will be so freaked out by the mere mentioning that I am bothered by his sex practices that my recall will easily get enough signatures. I know I know I shouldn't go around just copying everything jasun wurster does but it is so easy...

Hey. I like hummus. I mean. I sorta like hummus. Like, I'm not going to go to the store to get any, but if there was a plate of it in front of me, I'd put some on a pita chip. You know, and just kinda leave it there in front of me. See if someone else it's it. It'd be interesting. To see what happens and stuff. I'm not saying that I really like hummus or don't like it here I'm just saying. Well what the fuck am I saying? Nothing, I guess.

Since you're Mr. Forgiveness, when will we be getting Neil Goldschmidt's take on the recall? Not to spoil next week's editorial or anything...

You go from sorta neutral to full on vindictive to those that support the recall.

He ran his political career into a brick wall because he doesn't support Sam? I guess you feel it would be better to be like you. Cowardly from the get got and then all about forgiveness when it suits you.

Go ahead and keep on taking the safe bets, Davis, you have lost most of your cred anyway. (BTW loved the bit about swimming in the Willamette, canā€™t wait till you publish you entire workout diary online, fascinating!!)

Funny there is no mention of Lee Perlame destroying recall petions. http://blogs.wweek.com/news/2009/08/07/sam-adams-recallers-vs-longtime-local-journalist/ Oh forget it that would actually be news.

How many signatures do they have? That would be interesting information.

You'll have to check out next week's paper, dear.
