I'm a little shocked to see a lucid, worthwhile blog post under your byline, Will. That must be some (perpetual?) internship program!
"The characters all have their own screwy, idiosyncratic traits, but without overbearing lack of subtlety of a TV sitcom. (Oliver, for example, is a huge stoner who can't—or won't—ever put his bong down." Yay for subtlety!
I found The Bicyclist to be numbingly flat. The Free Box didn't work for me, what I saw of it, but that could easily be a taste thing not a quality thing. I couldn't get through the first installment of Wage Slaves.
improv group. huh. yeah thanks for your opinion but no thanks. You obviously have not seen much or any improv. The scripts are not polished but the show serves it's purpose. I don't see this as "the next big thing". I do see why people would watch it. It's entertaining.
If one hasn't seen every episode, I don't see how one can comment at all. It is a continuing saga and I am hooked! I found myself intimately involved in each quirky personality, and can't wait to see what they'll do next! Keep 'em coming.
YAWN. I met with the producer/director/jinglewriter/whathave you, and wasn't impressed with him in person, either- this is before I saw this show. I thought he was a pretentious windbag. The show itself reeks of cheaply made home video, and the conversion to 24p doesn't save it at all. Get some better actors and fire your writer. Maybe then you'll have something.
