If Wurstner is sufficiently personally offended to deliver a public statement whining over someone saying "Fuck," how are we supposed to believe he's not a homophobe or otherwise not personally offended by the sexual nature of Adams' conduct?

Grow up, Jason. You sound like a prude. And your failure is showing.
2
JFC, I can understand that you would be personally insulted by Wursters denigration of the wonderful word, "fuck"... Please make allowances for the mentally deficient.
3
Is there pool where we can try to guess how many signatures he will turn in? I'll bet less than 10,000.

In Britain you could go into a betting shop and they'd calculate these odds for you in a jiffy. I'm no turf accountant, but here are mine:

10-15 thousand: Evens
15-20 thousand: 5:1
5-10 thousand: 2:1

Did I ever mention I once met a guy who bought his house with gambling proceeds? LIVING PROOF that it's a stable source of income, I tell ye.

Wurster: "We don't want to get into saying how many we've got"

But you've already "gotten into" it by reporting your previous total.

What you're really saying is that you didn't like being "into" it, and now you want to "get out of it".

I'll tell Jasun personally to fuck off and kiss my mother with the same mouth. I won't feel bad about and I'll sleep well at night. I also have no problems with Randy telling a homophobe like that guy who worked for Leverage to fuck off either. Since Jasun has been working so closely with so many homophobes for so long maybe it's starting to rub off on him?

Hey Wurster, do you really want to be known as the duplicitous tool who's never been forthcoming about your numbers and your tactics; who instructed some patsy amongst your ranks to falsely accuse Adams of harrassing her at the Pancake event; who's wasted time claiming to "press full charges" against people who don't want to be bothered by your pathetic clipboard-carrying minions; who's squandered a good opportunity to inspire legitimate discussions about Adams behavior and the larger ethical implications by welcoming every homophobic, right-wing nutcase into your fold (and continuing to deny the existence of their presence)?

Oh wait. Too late. I wouldn't have said this when it all began but it's time for you to fuck off, Wurster. You're a disgrace to Portland.

Jasun: You know you're failing at grandstanding when the words "our fair city" fall out of your face....
9
I hadn't heard about the incident with Randy and the truck driver (here's a link to the story: http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.s…).

I really like Randy's response in this case. The truck driver was using derogatory language and starting an altercation. It's telling that the producers of Leverage then issued an apology to Randy.

Congrats, Jason! You got people involved in the political process! Maybe a whole 50 or 60 of them! And what a fine example you give of "involvement": wasting time being a public scold of an adult man for saying "fuck."

Awesome! I can't wait to see how well this city runs when all the crabby political newbies you "got involved" are out there speaking about the important issues of the day. Maybe someone jaywalked. Or was brusk talking to an old lady. Think of the myriad bullshit possibilities!

And "F-bomb" would actually be a kick ass nickname.

And "F-bomb" would actually be a sweet nickname.

Davis,

What kind of gambling did the guy do? Bet the ponies? Slots? Soccer matches? Snooker?
14
I can't wait until, "Really?" becomes a less popular phrase.
15
tsw: horses. It's the purest form. Dogs is rigged.

Funny how, in the final two weeks, this effort has additional purposes to get people involved in the political process. First time I'd heard that line from the Recallifornians.

And Matt, my roommate my freshman year at UO spent about 8 hours a day playing online poker and made out pretty well. Maybe get some PokerStars going on in the Merc office?

this:
" 'This recall is about our fair city, and the unfairness by which you stole an election. It is about your lies, cover-up and abuse of power in your desperation to stay employed.'

and this:
"one gentleman wore a pair of sunglasses and a Stars and Stripes shirt, another a baseball cap with a placard attached, reading 'LIAR.'"

So...is Wurster saying it's OK for a self-admitted liar (he went so far as to put it on his hat) to stand behind the recall that's supposedly based on lies?

18
Thanks for the update. I forgot about that Warster guy. What's he doing again?

I admire Jasun Wurster for his courage and his attempt to oust one of the most dishonest of local politicians. He deserves respect as a civic-minded activist. I wonder if the people here who are demeaning him have ever done a 10th as much for any cause?

Judging Wurster or his signature-gatherers homophobes is really unfair. In fact, they don't allow people who indicate that their issues with Adams are homophobic to sign that petition.

Could I be missing some ironic humor of apologists for Adams -- who unfairly smeared a gay man who raised genuine and well-founded concerns as homophobic -- endlessly labeling anyone who is critical of him as gay-bashers? And if it isn't a joke: Your guy has permanently lost that high ground!

Please wait...
