I read and somewhat enjoyed the first two books. I found the characters interesting and mysterious. The third book immediately snapped me back to reality, however, like a swift bite to the neck. Sadly, I told my coworkers my enjoyment of the first two so I get every single forward on news about Twilight. Regret!

Silly people in this world! Look, a newbie housewife spun a good new story based on an old story - the new with an amazingly fresh new slant on what a vampire is. Then, brilliantly packaged it into Twilight series. And she is a Mormon! What more odds could you manufacture against the success of such? It is brilliant, well crafted story. The writing is mediochre, the movies are not going to win Oscars. So what? The story is brilliant and I celebrate the creativity of Twilight. I even forgive a bit of excessive teenage escapism from a world that is ever-harder for a teenager to navigate. Let's look closer at the screaming teenage girls - there is far more going on here than meets the eye. Use your barain - think about it - study it Again, Twilight is brilliant and no one can argue its success. Period.
