College DOES pay - but people tend to DO it seriously wrong. It's an investment - look at how much you're likely to make afterwards, and compare that to how much you'll spend on tuition. I aimed for a high-paying field and kept my student loans to about $30k and I'm doing great....but I know SO many people who only studied what they WANTED to study and racked up $60k in loans while they did. They're making $22k a year now and stuck with $600/month loan payments - and they can't be surprised, that's exactly what they signed up for!

So you're saying an English degree was a BAD idea?

I'd laugh my ass off if Phil bit one of those guys noses and then took a big steaming dump all over one of them. And, by the way, just what is a plumb assignment? Is it on the level? just askin'.

I was going to comment on how Groundhogs day is a stupid tradition. But I've decided the Scientologists take the stupid cake.

@Matt - Sorry, didn't see this till now.

No! Of course not - since you wanted to work with the language. But it would be dumb to borrow $60k for an English degree and then be surprised that the $600/month loan payments are hard to make. Money isn't everything (for other people) so go after what you want to do. Just understand that you DO have to pay back the loan, and compare those future payments with what you're likely to make.

That's what all the articles on this topic seem to be. Idiots who spent way too much to study something that wouldn't generate the money to pay for it, and are sitting in their own mess looking confused.

Please wait...
