Can't argue with Randy on this one.
"You simply require the officers with the rifles to be on the same police frequency as the commanding officers and the hostage negotiation team."
I'm appalled if this is not the case every time. Isn't that police training 101???

Fire Sizer! It seems clear that Randy is the only commissioner who really wants to deal with the Police Bureau and the issues it faces. Sam deferring to Sizer's wishes prevented that, and now we've got a mess that just keeps getting messier. Sizer doesn't seem up to dealing with this, and maybe wasn't up to the task in the first place.

She's already effectively handed in her resignation, by telling Saltzman that she plans to retire when she reaches full benefits, in July, so let's get her out of the way now, and try to rebuild some trust between the Police and the citizens they are supposed to protect and serve. At this point, she's just sticking around for her own benefit, and doing so is to the detriment of Portland and the Police Bureau.

As much as I often times dislike Leonard's decisions, he seems to always be spot-on with regard to the PPB.

I don't see Sizer sticking around much longer, but I also don't think a new police chief is the answer to our problems. At all.

We need more oversight and accountability of our cops. Make them think twice before pulling the trigger on unarmed men in distress. Make them think twice before tasing mentally disabled persons on the bus who are doing nothing but sitting. Make them think twice before kicking a mentally disabled man to death.

If there are no repercussions for their actions, they will continue to be the Gestapo of Portland.

Please wait...
