Good gawd! Those two young women were terribly lucky.

Hopefully this asshole gets caught, and quickly (particularly if it's Detective Michele Michaels...how appropriate it would be for this fuck to get reigned in by a woman).

OTOH, why was the warrant "outstanding"? Wouldn't sex abuse be a warrant that was acted upon by paying the perp a visit? Seems like a dangerous crime to leave up to a happenchance traffic stop or other routine confrontation with the police.

Jackattack,
This is from the cops' release: "Winklebleck currently has an outstanding warrant for Sex Abuse in the Third Degree, an outstanding Probation Violation issued by the Oregon State Parole Board, and is a registered sex offender."

So it seems like the state lost track of where Winklebleck was living. That's my guess, anyway.

Sicko. Lock this guy away and destroy the key.
4
By the way, from the looks of things he's apparently hiding in the woods.
5
But why would anyone let a strange man with an unbelievable story drive you home in your own car?
6
Drunk. Fear of Authority. Probably not expecting to be decapitated that night.
7
Because the man was pretending to a be a cop, with a bunch of authority. I'm sure he was a huge bully.

Freaky! Glad they got away.

Update: Detectives have received information that Paul Winklebleck, the suspect in the recent kidnapping incident, has a tattoo on the back of his neck and upper portion of his back that says "Combative for God". The word combative may be visible above a shirt line. Crime Stoppers is also offering up to a $1000 for any information that leads to the arrest of Winklebleck. Anyone with information should call 503-823-HELP.

Yeah, that guy looks legit.

I wonder if he is involved with the missing hiker in the Gorge.

if someone came up to me, said he was a cop and i was too drunk to drive, i would call a cab instead. that being said, i am happy these women are ok and i hope this man gets caught.... but seriously? too drunk? don't risk it either way. call a cab or a friend. don't enable people like this to follow through on their schemes. if you are not comfortable, get to a situation or place where you are.

The cops did know where he lived but he took off the night he attempted to rape a 15yr old girl(that's the 3rd degree sex abuse charge along with the parole violation all in one). The US Marshalls got involved immediently and have been on the case ever since.

Please wait...
