It is a dang shame because that place is a gem.
But heed the warning all you who depend on 80% of handouts for survival - the money is now all gone (mostly to save the employee pension plans)

It would be cool if the city could let go and allow a coalition of artists/investors to buy this out.

Bummer they're closing. But I wonder if Trillium School next door could make use of the property?

This is a huge loss to the community.

This is going to be a huge loss for the Portland art scene, particular for artists of color. Very sad indeed.

This is an irreplaceable loss to North Portland, minorities, and this city as a whole. In a time when minorities are being pushed into the suburbs to find lower rents, the IFCC remained a safe place for cultures to be recognized, accepted, appreciated, and shine in a safe and friendly atmosphere.

I blame the North Portland community for taking IFCC for granted. The board for not pulling their heads out much sooner. Poor work ethic by whoever was originally hired to raise monies and attain grants. And The City for consistently putting IFCC on the chopping block.

Lets keep our fingers crossed that something as unique and inspirational as this place can come to North Portland again. Hopefully then we will be able to give the appropriate support to see a lasting success.

Is it connected to the sewer? They could probably finnagle some money out of the BES budget.... Big Pipe savings! Checks for everyone!

On a serious note: very sad.
