Great interview, Matt. Cornett needs to just hammer, hammer, hammer those little details that get people pissed off--$200 for a pair of pants, $300-$400 for an oil change. There's really no way to justify that. Good piece.

He has my vote in the bag. Everything he said about Saltzman's career, friends and working style is dead-on, and it's exactly what's wrong with City Hall.

What's the SAP system?

So who the fuck is Mark Wiener? Does he do ongoing consulting, or just election stuff?
6
He had me until he kept repeating the oil industry talking points on the sewer charge. Most of that money is for creating bioswales to keep runoff out of the sewer system which will save money in the long run. The fact that the city is also creating complete streets (not bicycle streets, complete streets) at the same time is just good planning.

So, Jesse tell us about your ride alongs?

BTW, the PPB Uniform pants cost about $94;

Most of the ants worn by PPB officers cost $60.95. The heavy weight wool pants (worn by few) cost $94.17. These pants have a stripe, billie pockets, and lots of other features unique to police uniforms. The prices PPB pays were from a competitve bid process and are in line with what other agencies pay

Way to punch below the belt on the MLS deal again Matt. You just can't let it go, can you?

BTW, a good reporter would've dug up Jesse's past statements that the PGE Park deal is a good one, and that he's talking out the other side now just to try to beat Saltzman.
Journalism > Matt Davis (again).

Two points:

I was wrong about the price of uniform pants. I was told $200 by a police officer and trusted I could repeat that. Once I did, I chose to verify it for myself. Copfan is correct that I overstated the price. Apologies.

As to my support for soccer. Try again. This deal has always been bad and I've never thought so much to the contrary much less said it somewhere.

So, to summarize, Jesse is opposed to taking money from the Spectator Facilities Fund and using it on a spectator facility ... when, presumably, it could be spent on bike lanes. And he also finds it objectionable that people investing in Portland do so with the expectation of making a profit.

Jesse's also doing his part to create jobs ... in California and Seattle. Thanks Jesse!
