Net neutrality takes a punch in the gut? Au contraire...

The FCC set this up from the get-go. They knew they would lose in court and they knew what they did to Comcast wasn't exactly within the purview of their collective power.

The reason they took this tact was to be able to get the kind of recognition on a nation scale that they needed in order to have the laws amended, which will be happening forthwith.

Now the cable companies (and other residential ISPs) will be seen as "dumb pipes", i.e. "common carriers", and will be nothing but some lines, which is precisely what the FCC wants (and The People).

This was the smartest move I've seen played by a government agency in a long time. This FCC is an amazing bunch and they are to be commended for this.
