To answer the question in the headline, no. Also, while I agree that the first two cat pictures are unbelievably adorable, the third picture is not. Be-costuming a cat is not cute. It is sad.
2
beau... you were wronged. adams was an asshole toward you, we get it. but you're starting to enter fatal attraction territory.
3
He's right though, that refusing to sign just so we can keep saying we have a gay mayor is stupid and frankly a little selfish. Beyond that, I wonder what sort of "success" is represented by "motivating" an insufficient number of people to sign a petition. I guess that makes the McCain/Palin campaign, the Confederacy and the Chicago Cubs enormously successful?
4
He writes like I did when I was an overeager high school senior, bent on impressing admissions committees.

In other words, like a total douche.

tl;dnr

The Oregonian story by Janie Har added this in the last few minutes - "And just to be clear, it should be noted that Wurster is making a pitch for Volm, who is his significant other."

But you're totally right, hollie. He's got a Word Of The Day Calendar, sure, but he doesn't have any restraint.
7
The real reason The Merc was left off the press list?

Kiala the Blogball.
8
Someone please tally the amount of "I-me-mys" in this, I lost count.
9
Yawn, I really like the first kitten.
10
As long as Adams continues to be such an effective leader he's still got my support. I mean look at the series of police scandals we've had recently. Each and every time, there was Adams, out front as our leader letting the police know they work for us, the people of Portland. Sure, ripping Westerman's badge off in public may have been going a bit far, but it's like Adams says, " this is about groundtruthing, and crowdsourcing" truer words were never spoke. You get em' Sam!
11
RUN ON SENTENCES! Does he have any inkling of Chains of Reason? Or logical flow? FUH-ail.
12
Sorry Beau, despite repeated efforts, your ass simply is not good enough to bring down city government.
13
I prefer the last cat; I like it when cats look pissed at being made to look cute.

Were there no paragraph breaks?
14
I was thinking the last cat looked quite confident
15
i think these cats are great representations of The Life of Beau Breedlove: happy loverboy, sad liar, Avel's dressup clownboy. great choices, Sarah.
16
I'm not going to read it, just once again point out the ridiculousness of you posting something by Breedlove of your own volition, and then criticizing him for seeking publicity.

"We didn't ask for it...." And he didn't send it to you.
17
@littlebeirut Here is what I want to know, is Volm a candidate for city council hiding her relationship with Jasun Wurster in an attempt to increase her chances of election, and if so shouldn't she resign?
18
@econoline - I tend to fall in with the Mercury's stance that if we were bitching about the recall being all up in Adams' personal business we should be consistent about the other 'love that dare not speak its name'. I think the 'O felt like they had to report the relationship because based on the dueling press releases from Wurster and the 'official' recall it looks like Jasun took over the recall website and turned it into an endorsement for his girlfriend.
19
TSW just called me a "Blogball".

I think I've decided to be flattered.
20
Unicorn should be capitalized, as should Flying Spaghetti Monster.
21
Breedlove is pathetic. Man up and move on.
22
Go away Beau, your 15 minutes are long over, and you certainly are an unfunny joke to the LGBLT community.
23
You all only think you know all about Beau and the truth is all you have heard are lies and hate. How many of you have "manned up" and tried to get to know him for yourselves? How many of you have met Sam Adams and can see through his lies and can see that he is a snake and a creep? If Sam were a real man (which he obviously isn't) he would have told the truth from the beginning and would not have let someone he supposedly cared about be dragged through the mud. The truth is that Sam is a liar and a fraud and an embarrassment to our entire city, let alone our community!
24
Beau, your 15 minutes are so long over, just go away. You are an unfunny joke to the LGBLTQ community, go find another sugar daddy somewhere other than Portland...and I think the 2nd kitty is the cutest.
25
What? No one watches a cartoon because they care. They watch cartoons for a good laugh. And this cartoon is AWESOME.
26
Of COURSE Sam lied about it. He's the freakin' mayor and he's got a lot to lose. You'd lie too. As far as Beau goes, he never got dragged through the mud. He's a kid with no professional reputation, no position to jeopardize -- and afterward, he got the UNZIPPED COVER and more attention than he deserves. I hardly think anything Sam did makes him an embarrassment. It makes him a human being, which is something that boring, staying-too-long-at-the-party KID isn't.
27
I'm going to guess the people who are all aflutter over "the lie, THE LIE" haven't lived in a time or place where a noise complaint can turn into sodomy charges. Which sucks royally. Cops loved rounding up homos in the gay neighborhood back in my hometown under violations of noise ordinances before Lawrence v. Texas. If you get all big-headed and say "yeh, I was havin' gay sex", in the clink you go! Do not pass go! Do not collect $200!

I was "playing video games" and "moving furniture" a couple of times, in fact.

It's royally embarrassing to the LGBT community that we so deeply stigmatize sex that we can turn a lie about sexual conduct into TWO recall attempts. It's even more embarrassing that folks are basically trying to cover a wrongheaded publicity grab that netted several interviews and the cover of Unzipped.
28
"How many of you have "manned up" and tried to get to know him for yourselves?"

Why would I do that?

The sad fact is he is the dumpee. Yet, he's all over the intertubes whining about what a meany poopyhead Adams was/is instead of moving on. There is nothing he can win from his continued public pissing and moaning as a lover scorned.
29
I got as far as the first sentence of his "statement".

Man am I glad I live in Portland City.
30
@Kiala If you aren't flattered by that you can be flattered by the fact that I almost always click on your profile picture when I see it. Or, you can be creeped out. Your choice.
31
I just care about the stand-out job Adams did at the BEST awards this morning. Never a dull moment, Clooney look alike at Portland's Grammy's, Orange Splot narratives during technical difficulties, awards for best screamer, couldn't be better

I think Alexjon really hit the nail on the head. If Mr Breedlove had grown up in a world without Will and Grace and American Idol, he might have a little more perspective. Instead, he seem to be embodying the worst stereotypes of his generation of spoiled "echo boomers" who think the world now revolves around them and their perceptions. So having boosted his 15 minutes with a nude photo shoot. Now he's writing a book. Funny how he no longer complains about the Willamette Week the way he did at first (after two years of stalking by Jacquiss) and now sings the praises of Bob Ball. So, if Adams took advantage of him then, does his having turned "of age" caused him to make better choices? He seems oblivious to the fueling of negative stereotypes these people have exploited to make their case, while ignoring his own complicity in refusing to take any personal responsibility. Which has left him open to the real exploitation in his life, the people who feed his delusion that his relationship with the mayor is actually more important than the business of the city and it's people. I hope that Mr Breedlove knows that he has done everything he can to make sure that he will spend the rest of his life as a stereotype, one of his own choosing. So let him buddy up to his own Linda Tripp now, though perhaps he should have taken a tip from Monica and kept his mouth shut. He's done his centerfold, he's writing his book- all that's left is a tour with Paula Jones and, if he has any sense of humour at all, Jessica Hahn.

Please wait...
