Quite some time ago I learned that Marcy Tigner (the voice of Little Marcy) lived down in Springfield. I called her on the phone to see if I could get an interview, but she was against it. It was a few years after the Incredibly Strange Music book had come out, and I guess she had been spooked by some of the hipsters (i.e. non-believers) that were contacting her.
I've never seen an obit on her, but it appears that she is no longer listed in the Springfield White Pages.
Anyone know if she is still alive?

Marcy is no longer with us.
Apparently Jesus wanted her for a sunbeam, rather suddenly.
She did indeed live in Springfield.
After putting out her one solo, puppetless album (with her on trombone!) she put out scads of albums with her vent-piece, Little Marcy. I own more than a few.
There's a great interview with her, conducted by Portland's own Dr. Zomb, of Dr. Zomb's Stereo Obscura that was in Cool and Strange Music Magazine over ten years ago, which probably contributed to her being mobbed by hipsters. He said she was sweet and even pulled Little Marcy out of the closet and sang a song to his small son, who was waiting patiently throughout the interview.
This comes at an odd time, as a few KBOO DJs are doing a four hour marathon of weird and horrible (and weirdly horrible) children's records this Friday night, from 8pm to Midnight on KBOO (90.7 FM and online at www.kboo.fm/listen) and we'd be remiss not to play at least one Little Marcy song.

Best way to turn her into a sunbeam is to launch her into the sun.

Dang, here I though we had found the lost tapes of Sarah Palin's youth.

Please wait...
