New low income housing (good) was built around the location, resulting in noise complaints (bad).

Oh the irony

Where is the Parlour again? I don't think I've ever heard of this place...

Yeah, I had heard of it once or twice, but I never knew where it was located, never saw an ad, never heard anyone talking about it, and never saw that a band I wanted to see was playing there. So it's definitely a shame, but it sounds like they could have done a bit more to make themselves known to the hepcats of my ilk (and even the advanced-level hepcats).

They're on Powell and like, 22nd. Right next to the Chaos Cafe. It's not a fantastic venue, but it'll be missed, especially by the 18-20 crowd, I'd imagine. I think part of their lack of marketing is probably related to how damn small the place is.

R, if this was really due to noise complaints that's a shame. I thought those new places were like a block away? I guess that's not so far considering the Parlour probably has terrible sound insulation.

I agree on the publicity being a factor. Outside of a few facebook invites I've never seen flyers or posters for shows at this venue. Still, quite a shame to see it go.
