Netflix streamed through the wii however, is awesome, and you can easily hook up a good laptop to the TV for most other things.
The biggest problem is HD sports that aren't on network TV. Right now, you've got to suck it up and either have friends with cable, or go to a bar. Both are nice ways to get out of the house, but I'll still be watching for any solution that fixes that glaring problem. (I get pretty good quality from the online-MLB package, that even looks pretty good on a big screen, but it just isn't cable HD quality.)
It looks like Google is trying to do a lot of the same thing that Boxee (http://www.boxee.tv ) has already been doing for years. However, Boxee will also run on most PCs (Apple/ MS / Linux). so you won't need to buy new hardware just to use it. It's too bad that Google's announcement will lessen the impact that D-Link was planning on next month when they release the first Boxee set top box.

Something even my wife can operate. goodbye Comcast.
We canceled our Comcast last year. Still fully entertained at all hours.
Playon blows too on a big screen.
