Good job of reporting Sarah!

Rex was elected to this, his third term, only in 2008, so he still has two years left on it. I doubt he wants to give up his seat for a short-term appointment anyway.

Here's an idea: appoint Rod Park, who is outgoing anyway. And then appoint Shirley Craddick - running unopposed for Park's seat - to fill the new vacancy so she can start her work early.

I hope they nominate Beau Breedlove.

Hmm. That's too bad. I was hoping he'd run for mayor. I'd rather keep people like him and Ted Wheeler in town and lose some of these other people.

This is a bummer. I always liked Bragdon's mix of big picture views with a somewhat understated style of leadership. Had he run for mayor I think it would have been an interesting race.

My favorite Bragdon moment; riding a MAX train from the Expo Center to Downtown I saw him get into a conversation with a teen mom pushing a stroller. He asked where she was heading, she said the Hemp Fest or some such thing. They proceeded to talk for ten of fifteen minutes about '420' among other things, he seemed to have no idea about the reference. She started her explanation by saying "Well you know, it is Hitler's birthday right?", to which he responded "But Hitler was bad right?". In the conversation that followed I got the idea that he was just out to see what made her tick, there was no condescension or game playing, just a straightforward discussion between two equals.

David has a thing for NYC...the baseball, the nightlife, Carnegie Hall..this will be a perfect fit for him and continues to solidify the NYC/PDX connection.

Please wait...
