And I thought the dumbed down not-for-math-majors math courses I took as a CS student were cringe-inducing.

If you consider yourself part of a counterculture and want to learn math, the non-counterculture mathematics material of which there's already a wide diversity to pick from will work just fine. Last thing we need is folks that don't know math learning a bunch of math buzzwords without any actual mathematical understanding behind it.

It will be like that time I heard of aleph numbers at age 11 via some fluke and convincing everyone I knew that infinity + 1 is more than infinity except WAY WAY WORSE instead of AWESOME.

OK I actually clicked through to it, it's maybe a good thing. If I had gone ahead and done this first I probably would have tried to make the same point but a bit more friendly since this appears to not be a bad thing, perhaps even good!

Shows the power of a good idea (kudos to the writer) and the power of site that plays favorites and always keeps the selling project on the front page while ignoring the rest. I somehow doubt there will be an article about the vast majority of projects that don't make it because their projects are lost a hundred pages down.

Please wait...
