They have got to get rid of binding arbitration for discipline disputes. The arbitrator reverses almost every discipline case and the officer collects back and stress pay. Would like to see a full accounting of stress payouts - good Merc investigation material!

Denis your reporting on this has been great. I still wish Humphreys were fired, but it is probably just a matter of time before he fucks up again. I hope they are keeping him behind a desk at least. What about our road rage twins, Nice and Westerman, any word on if they will be disciplined? Do cops with such obvious anger management issues still get to walk around Portland with a side arm?

@R - I second your comment on arbitration.

Heaven forbid that an arbitrator, a neutral third party, should second-guess decisions made in City Hall. After all, there's little chance that police disciplinary decisions would be made for political reasons.
