It's probably Dudley himself.

But you don't avoid Oregon income taxes, even if you live in Washington. Is that the 'false statement' you mention? Article doesn't make it clear to me that the sign's claim is wrong.

saw a sign in Dallas, OR, this weekend that said "voting kitzhaber is like remarrying your ex". kind of the same argument, kitz wasnt voted out...

The stamp means that the union printed the signs, though they probably didn't finance them. I think the real question here is what percentage of Oregonians actually know what Washington State looks like.

While it's funny, it's wildly dumb from a strategic standpoint. By and large, people don't pay close attention to lawn signs--they mostly just absorb their presence.

So, most people, like you, Sarah, will just see these as a bunch of lawn signs supporting Chris Dudley for governor. That's kinda counter-productive from an anti-Dudley standpoint (and points to a rogue agent paying for them, not anyone with political experience).

At any rate, if you think this is "dirty politics," I would submit that you've never actually seen dirty politics.

reymont, the signs don't say "income" tax. the taxes he avoided, if any, were related to other things i don't even pretend to understand. mostly tho, it's just indicative of his values - in which Oregon does not even come close to first.

Conspiracy nailed it. The signs most likely are helping out Dudley because people only see the name (if they look at the sign at all). More so, the earned media (which Sarah kindly gave to Dudley) makes him look like the victim of dirty politics, which helps him out even more.

All is not lost for Kitz in Portland, there is still time for him to make out with a 17 year old boy...

Yeah, I say go full-on-Marion-Berry or go home.

I thought Dudley was also running for governor of Washington too. I have been moving the signs around so the can be seen by Vancouver people on their commute. I thought if the governors were the same person then maybe they might talk about the Interstate Compacts instead of passing the buck.

I got a pretty good laugh out of it. Very witty.

Please wait...
