@Evil Wm. S.H. , you should watch more Star Trek, clearly! They -can- fix blindness, but it gives the person normal vision. Jordy chooses to have his visor because he is emotionally attached to it, plus it gives him like, superhero vision. Also, they fix his spinal injury.
