Also, Erik, you forgot (E) Olivia Wilde

Warp drive Injuns?

This looks awesome, but you must have missed The Adventures of Brisco County Junior. Firefly/Serenity is pretty close to cowboys, aliens, James Bond and Han Solo as well.
5
You also forgot Stargate.
6
@TheGolden: Whoa, were there aliens in Brisco County? I don't remember that. As for Firefly, good call, but I'd say the similarities end with Han Solo and the Western--not many aliens or James Bonds in there.

@caustic: How DARE you, sir and/or madam. I NEVER forget Stargate.
7
Reavers were kind of like zombie aliens.

Yeah, yeah, Firefly was "kinda" this and "kinda" that. Joss Whedon is our savior. Etc etc.

Y'know what is ACTUALLY this and also MOSTLY that? This movie. Nathan Fillion is no Harrison Ford. Period. Exclamation point. Semi-colon.
9
@Nex - The guy's what, 65? At this point, Harrison Ford is no Harrison Ford. I vote Fillion.
10
Yeah, but Harrison Ford looks to be pulling off a pretty decent Henry Fonda. Henry Fonda in "Once Upon a Time in the West," that is - movie-star good-guy plays against type. Never seen it? Go rent it. Now now now now now.

High five landing! Harrison Ford may not be Han Solo anymore, but he doesn't have to be. Now he's in that select group of older male actors who is still totally awesome, but in a different way than he was in his earlier days. Like Fonda, Sean Connery, Brando, Peter O'Toole or Christopher Lee.

It's a very exclusive group and maybe Fillion will find his way there eventually, but statistically speaking, it's not likely.

@Nex: Heck yeah!

If you're a fan of Once Upon a Time in the West, you might like this video of the (MAJOR BIG TIME SPOILER ALERT) final confrontation from that movie set here to "My Body is a Cage" by the Arcade Fire:

(SERIOUSLY, SPOILER ALERT; IT REVEALS THE WHOLE MYSTERIOUS MOTIVATION BEHIND A MAJOR CHARACTER'S ACTIONS)

For anyone who's seen the movie and liked it, you might find it as perfectly perfect as I do. It just works.

Please wait...
