The problem with this is that many of the independent/"undecided" voters don't have a single goddamn clue as to what is going on in Congress. All they see is:

A) it hasn't accomplished anything
B) Democrats make up the majority

Leading them to believe the D's are the problem, not the constant Republican obstructionism. The best case is to decouple the tax cuts and force Republicans to go on record as filibustering a tax cut for the middle class.

They've been blaming the (powerless minority) Rs for the last four years they've controlled the Congress.
It would be oh so fun if more here understood that "taxing the rich" only is a concept so unrealistic it borders on impossible.

The Republicans have messaging, Democrats don't. So Republicans always end up dictating the terms of the debate. There have been countless instances where things that should have been political and policy no-brainers for Democrats couldn't get accomplished because the Republicans were so successful at spinning against them. This isn't to excuse the Democrats for having no backbone, this is another major fault of the left which we all need to fix.
