This fools arguments are asinine, and pathological.
2
Spindles, you ignorant slut.
3
What is it about Senators who actually try and do something for the poor and middle class that drives people who have a vague awareness of medical terminology to use them incorrectly as though they have some sort of point somehow?

Spindles, I do not think those words mean what you think they mean.

Oh, if you want to know why arguing over tax-cuts are irrelevant watch this: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5…

I just want a Constitutional amendment that states that if we go to war, that the people are taxed to pay for said war. I find the current debate semi-meaningless in that we still justify wars without paying for them. if the war is "just," then asking your population to pay for it should be straightforward. Methinks we'd have a lot less wars however.

We have two of the best Senators in the country but the Mercury is never afraid to make some kind of vague insult directed at both of them. Unfortunate.

I agree with jaspeers. Besides, whether or not this tax cut for the rich passes or not, the income gap will remain a problem. What is needed is tax reform. Wyden, one of our senators, has been one of the biggest advocates for an overhall of the tax system and has introduced legislation. Bernie Sanders is great, though, but seriously, some proper perspective would be nice.

Christ, Spindles; if you want to use a video to "prove" your point...Get a better video.

I just get the feeling that this is all gonna suck no matter how grand the speeches are. It's possible that this will indeed mean the Republicans will cut off the unemployed of this country without a cent, they'll find a way to overturn the health care reform legislation, and all those jobs that are supposed to result from their rich friends getting tax breaks still aren't going to happen. No sense in not fighting it, but I believe most of the battle is already over, and Most Of Us lost.

Don't let the crappy production values fool ya. 'The Money Masters' is the seminal documentary on the history of currency.

Asinine, pathological, and seminal comments by all, including me.

I don't care about the people who snicker on the sidelines. Bernie is a good guy with guts and a focused intellect. I'm lucky to have been in Vermont long enough to have voted for him twice.

Why don't you find out what our senators have been doing for the past two years before you insult them? You obviously have no idea that Wyden had a health care bill that was better in pretty much every way than the bill that passed AND had Republican cosponsors, or that he did a ton of leg work getting the votes together for the bill that did pass. And you just as obviously have no idea that Merkley is at the front of the drive to eliminate the filibuster; if that had been done two years ago, we would have a better health care bill, better financial reform bill, a bill to slow global warming, and THIS TAX COMPROMISE WOULD HAVE BEEN UNNECESSARY.

Just because you work for a newspaper doesn't mean you don't have to read one.
13
Also, this wasn't a filibuster, because there was no bill under consideration. Since you were wrong about pretty much everything you wrote, you might as well have just posted the video and wrote, "WOO!"
14
Eldepeche is right, on both points. We do have a couple of at least halfway decent senators, and Sanders' speech wasn't a filibuster because it wasn't holding up a cloture vote (it was definitely in the spirit of a filibuster, though).

At last, the DEATH OF SOCIAL SECURITY! Our plan is right on schedule-

And who said reverse psychology doesn't work...It's just a matter of dumbing down the population. hatred is a powerful motivating tool...in the right hands.

When we bought off candidate Barack Obama during the primary we knew he'd play ball or else- but it wasn't for the sort of change that you probably were thinking- And we knew we could count on Wyden to help get rid of social security.

Do you really think the "working poor" and the middle class will ever be willing to give back a 2% reduction in their payroll tax. Not hardly Clyde!

And do you think cutting any program by 30% won't mean the end of that program. Hmmmm....

but don't worry, we won't be turning grandma and the "cripples" into hamburger just yet...although my dogs love that stuff- First we need to get this chunk of cash on the market where it will drive up all the stocks. Then, as we usually do, will dump our stocks and take our profits, and probably get another bail out since President Obama will be desperate to get re-elected. The fact is that he is toast when the phony-left figures out what he did. It's not like Wyden and the other millionaire Democratic senators elected in 2010 have to worry about getting re-elected any time soon, and we know what a short term memory you all have-

Do you realize that with all these fancy automated weapons and factories, we really don't need that many of you around any more, other than to serve us. Keep that in mind stupid when you start to complain again. So, go back to listening to creepy-soccer-announcer-guy and follow your mayor and worship the 'Paulson Family', and don't worry about what were doing...

Enjoy your tax cuts, and be sure to get grandma some extra cat food this year for Christmas, or Kwanzaa, or whatever!

He didn't actually filbuster. The vote wasn't scheduled until Monday anyway.

Please wait...
