For the benefit of our collective blood pressure, maaaaybe police union talks SHOULD be private. The Union (and I don't mean cops in general; I mean the Union) have shown nothing but contempt and aggressive disrespect for the citizens that pay police, expect a decent level of service, and at least the appearances of a mature disposition.

Might as well just see what their final demands are and not have to hear their face-palm rationale or pity-party antics.

I'm honestly curious: What is the police union's argument against random drug testing? And their issue with civilian oversight?

And a follow-up: How are they able to make said arguments with a straight face?

Crowsby, I understand your mortal curiosity but I fear their alien logic will lead rational minds down a twisted road of Lovecraftian madness.

folks! what is it that the PPB/PPA is wanting to hide from us and the City and their goofy-Attorneys are in full agreement with?...got to be something that would maybe piss us off collectively enough to force them to change something...what is it, who all knows of it, and when will some courageous person in City Hall don the mask of a dedicated WikiLeaker and tell it to all of us out here. We need to know just what IT is!

All negotiations should be in public. We shouldn't stop with just the police union's negotiations. The only way one can possibly accomplish meaningful things in the negotiations process, the only way the give-and-take of negotiations can reasonably occur, is if all discussions are held in front of the media and interested citizens and the statements of the negotiators promptly reported.

Drug testing for the police should be mandatory, and not open for discussion. If there are police that can't pass a drug test, let them quit and find a job somewhere else.

Please wait...
