The news staff is probalby well aware of my opinion of Donuts in PDX, but I'll share with tehe rest of you.

VOODOO DONUTS FAIL HORRIBLY AS DONUTS!!!

If you want a good donut, go to Tonallis. Oh MAN! Tonallis is great. Especially late at night. And there's not over 9000 stupid fucking tourists crawling up your ass in order to eat some stupid fried pastry they saw on an aswful travle show.
2
Quiet about Tonallis. Let us North Portlanders have something of our own.
3
@Chuck: I recently discovered that the New Seasons on Killingsworth sells Tonallis. Just sayin. I'll keep my mouth shut about Annies.
4
Acme donuts are amazing and have been my favorite since they opened.
5
Ooh, Tonalli's is out of the bag now! I be climbin in your quadrant, snatchin your donuts up.
6
Fuck donuts! They're just something Gentiles created to feel smug, bastards!
7
Tonalli's +1. The regular glazed raised is perfect.
8
Sesame Donuts in BH Hwy are better than most of the donuts actually in Portland.
9
Tonallis, without a doubt!!! I'll take their old-fashioned buttermilk donuts over any gourmet pastry. If you go to the Alberta St. location right before they close for the night (at midnight, I think?), you might be lucky enough to get your hands on some super fresh and warm donuts that they're prepping for the morning.

And they do have two locations, so there's plenty for everyone.

Sesame Donuts are mediocre, and their service is surly. No thanks.

If the Tonalli's on Alberta's starts sprouting lines of tourists you can always head west to the St Johns Tonalli's.

Seriously though, props to Voodoo and Acme - both were kind enough to kick down donuts for the Eat Donuts to Curb Hunger ride last Pedalpalooza.

Have to share my disappointment that neither Annie's (Roseway represent!) nor Staccato Gelato were invited. The Triple Ginger donut at Staccato? That's what makes life worth living.
12
Sesame Donuts beats them all, hands down
13
ACME's Old Goat donut with Sunbursts (candy coated sunflower seeds) is the best donut I have ever eaten.

I was one of the judges at the event--and it was a ton of fun. All the shop owners were really nice and seemed to have a good time.

Coming from PA, I definitely miss the whole deep-fried dough mentality sometimes. All the donuts were wonderful, but I liked the simplicity of Coco's basic light, airy glazed donut. I also love that they're right up the street from my work. :)

I wish we could've gotten all the other donut shops mentioned here involved, too, but 9 whole donuts was enough to judge--believe me. I couldn't even look at a donut for a ....day.

I remain loyal to voodoo because of their vegan donut selection. I've heard acme has good vegan donuts, but I never make it to SE. So.

You all have to be fucking trolling - Tonallis?! You sound like the kind of crusty fuckers who stick to shitty diners because they're "authentic." It's so goddamn fashionable to trash voodoo.

The attention they've gotten is eye-roll inducing, but they're tasty and inventive donuts, goddammit.

I live off Alberta, and after two visits I'm not going back - fucking Tonalli's, really?!

Oh, and I had a fairy princess donut last night at Staccato on 28th that rocked my face.

Please wait...
