I wish i could've made it myself last night, but i'm really glad soo many other people showed up! Perhaps City Council thought that nobody "gave a damn" about whether the F.B.I. can automatically ride roughshot over local matters. If they thought so, then no doubt they're thinking outherwise after last night. Sad thing is, the voices of [atleast] 200 people (plus potentially many others who either had to work, had other plans, didn't know about this, or just didn't have bus fare) probably won't matter. As it typically has before, City Council will do what ever the PPB, Portland Business Alliance, &/or bourgeois shtheads who live in the Hills/Pearl tell them what to do. But we'll see...

Btw, considering that pretty-much all in attendence to this were overly concerned about govt. intrusion & the F.B.I. over-stepping it's bounds - i'd LOVE to know what percentage of these folks would consider themselves "tea-partiers" as oppose to "progessive" activists who voted either for Obama or Nader? DAMN! It would've been awesome if the Merc had done an informal poll of attendees right afterwards.

@D +1

When the FBI starts to falsely detaining white men like Brandon Mayfield, then they've really crossed a line with Portlanders.

Damn, how come the Feds get the rule that Portland cops working with them can't break state law, but Portland cops working for the City of Portland are allowed to break state law? #jealous
