Wow, so he's that guy, huh? Keeping alive the longstanding Oregon tradition of city-slicking inherited millionaires pretending to be cowboys.
2
Are we at the tail end of a belt buckles-are-cool trend? Or at the beginning of a new fad? Belt buckles really are more of a Gresham thing anyways

Well, he needs to fit in with all the wealth in his department. The top 10 people average $250,000 a year in compensation. It look like this department isn't suffering and is helping bleed the state dry. http://oregoncapitolnews.com/govdocs/state…

FUCK.

YES.
5
At least he didn't get that info from South Park Studios.

@Andy: Dude, if you're gonna throw around math terms, get your data correct. The average of the ten highest paid employees of the Oregon Treasury Department is $225,380.39. If you're gonna throw around faux-outrage at executive compensations, flip out over the Depart of Corrections. The average of their top ten highest paid employees is $257,864.28.
7
Clever to keep the state's precious metal reserves on his person at all times.
8
@Graham: Don't bother. That dude has some severe delusions that prevent him from ever being factually incorrect, even when he's factually incorrect.
9
Graham, my mistake. It was a typo. I was just going to round to an even 225 and goofed . It still is an outrageous number, considering that the investments they have made with our money have yielded poor returns.

Oregometry, get a life. Go over all my previous posts and if you see a factual error over a number or other, I'll fess up. If not, don't make allegations you can't prove.

Your comments here (http://blogtown.portlandmercury.com/Blogto…) were so economically and logistically incorrect as to be laughable.

@Andy: I'm not sure where you're getting the impression that the Oregon State Treasury has under-performed the market as a whole. The S&P 500 15-year annualized median return is 10.92%. The Oregon State Treasury's return is 9.5%. I know that the state is going to take generally long-term conservative investments over shorter-term more aggresive investments.

So the point is, you're wrong on every point you've tried to make. Come back when you know anything about the topics that you're trying to discuss.

Fight! fight!

I do like that belt buckle -- I'll take big belt buckles as the new old fad as mustaches fade away... (if I type it, it must come true, right?)
13
Math is boring. Belt buckles are cool.
14
Didn't anyone ever teach him that wearing your name on your clothes is unsafe?! A stranger could totally walk up to you and pretend to know you... And how would you know if they really did or not?! Jeez!
15
I've heard rumors about this but hadn't seen the pic. Thanks Sarah. I think its great. Pendleton is a cool town and the folks there are justifiably proud of their local crafts.

Bruce your concern makes sense, but strangers approach me all day long - that's part of being a public official and frankly a good part. Goes with the territory. I still think its more dangerous driving to Salem on I-5, though.
16
Salem to 1-5 is sketchy! I drive it nearly daily for work - not fun. How about a commuter rail, Ted?

As for the salary issue, look at any agency in government or private business exec pay - it's overinflated. Look at NBA salaries, overinflated. I make under 35K getting beat up, spit on, screamed at and love it. What can you do? Bitching on btown ain't fixing the problem. :)

Please wait...
