I've had women cut off contact when they found out my DAD was gay. As if, after 30+ years, I would wait until they came into my life to go running after the peen. IMHO, lots of women are pretty fearful of the gay.
Biphobia is stronger against men that it is with women. Women who are bisexual are seen as being progressive or sexually adventurous. Men who are bisexual are seen as sleazy disgusting scumbags who are either 1.) actually gay and haven't come to terms with it or 2.) desperate/promiscuous enough to sleep with anything.
I (female) have known for most of my life that I was bisexual. Same with my (male) partner. But he hates even calling himself bisexual for what it implies. I get pats on the back for being bisexual, he gets called a fag.
In conclusion, people are stupid. And afraid of sex.
@CC - As far as "my type" is concerned, bisexual or bi-experienced women seem to work out the best. My upbringing gets more of an "Oh really?" than an "Oh. Really.", and it seems to make what's normally a traumatic part of the relationship an actual asset. It puts them at ease in discussing themselves, because they know I'm not going to be judgemental.
