I support tigers with lasers mounted on them (and sharks with lasers for our rivers, for that matter) but demand that the tigers and sharks also have cameras attached so that we can review their decisions after an incident.
Remember when civil liberties folks flipped out over Tasers®, predicting that officers would use them as torture tools to force compliance and punish suspects for insufficient deference?
And how police across the country swore up and down that they'd only deploy Tasers® to subdue violent suspects, and would never ever electrocute any suspect for mere noncompliance?
The same song-and-dance plays out with every new "less lethal" weapon.
I invite anyone human enough to care about this to investigate the ratio of merely noncompliant suspects to actually violent suspects on whom officers have used "less lethal" ordnance.
