This 15 year veteran has deviated from policy before. He also seems to have a bully mentality, as he has physically shoved people without provocation before
2
I think this is exactly the type of response that the PPB should provide. I'm impressed with the maturity of tone from Reese and Adams.

Denis, it's not clear to me from your links how Officer Reister has a checkered history. One of those links mentions a situation where he was commended for his actions (keeping a woman from killing herself by Tasing her). The other link doesn't mention him at all.
4
Here's one, about the protest/pepper-spray settlements, that does mention him: http://media.wweek.com/attach/2009/10/27/c…

It seems to me that calling the officers past "checkered"was a not-too-subtle cheapshot.
But boy did he fuck up this time.
This incident from a 15yr vet is shocking.
6
One more link, a PDF, now added to the story. He was the other officer who cited Stoop Nilsson.
7
@Denis: That second link is to 17 pages of unsearchable page scans of court testimony. A quick read through though, it seems to all be about Kruger's Nazi memorabilia and nothing to do with Reister. You're not making a good case at all for why this officer has a "checkered past".

The beanbag rounds should only be fired from a completely different shotgun, painted bright orange or pink or something. There would be no way that anyone could be confused over what they're firing. It's really bad that the same weapon can fire both. Perhaps beanbag rounds should be a different caliber, so that a beanbag gun wouldn't accept standard ammo.
9
Tasering a suicidal woman armed with a 10' knife and then taking her to the hospital is a "checkered past"? WOW, just wow.
10
Is it lible or slander? I always get those two confused.

This is the cop responsible -

Why was this guy still a cop again? Oh, that's right, Portland PD has open Nazi's serving on the force.

A message for the pigs, keep this shit up and you'll have another Christopher Monfort. Can only push people so far before they break, and explode.

How long before the public at large explodes from another cop shooting someone with impunity?

This is only a few steps away in levels of brutality then the murder of Oscar Grant. This cop needs to be drug tested (ever wonder how cops get so fucking big? They hoped up on steroids) and charged with assault in the second.
They need their toys taken away.
13
On the other hand, if you don't try to run from the cops, you probably won't get shot. And the officer in question did try to use a normally non-lethal way of stopping him. Unfortunately, he (or someone) loaded the wrong ammo in the gun.

Judging by the track record of the PPD, he was probably running because he was afraid of being shot. And based on the reports, it seems like an almost impossible mistake to make. Maybe this pig thought it would be fun to take target practice at the homeless, and then say "mistakes were made..." All cops are bastards - off the pigs!

Please wait...
