Do you really think Cogen not running is a bump for Adams? If I were on Team Adams I would view most any challenger at this point as a positive, they will just split the vote further.
2
This endorsement doesn't really seem that exciting. Who else would they endorse?
3
Doesn't it seem a little early for an endorsement like this?

I agree Todd. I mean, I know nothing of her positions on anything as yet, let alone who all is in the race.
I may end up supporting her, I dunno, but I tend to think this shows that the only interest the National Womens pact has is electing women period.
Which I find short-sighted.

@ladies first: If you figure that no one will win outright in the May primary, I'd say not having Cogen to contend with in a November runoff is good for Adams. But, yes, his decision is far better news for Brady and Hales.

As for the impact of this endorsement, it's all about access to a large, motivated out-of-state donor base. And if those checks come in sooner than later, they can be spent sooner than later, on efforts that, in turn, will help the campaign get more money, etc.

I lost any respect for EMILY's list after this episode: http://d-day.blogspot.com/2008/06/ok-what-…

Recap: EMILY's list endorses Nikki Tinker, an anti-choice challenger to a highly progressive, pro-choice incumbent Democrat, Steve Cohen. Tinker goes on to a vile, racist, anti-semitic campaign against the incumbent, and loses 19%-79%. As far as I can tell, the only criteria EMILY's list seemed to have was that Tinker is female and Cohen was male. This kind of nonsense is why Republicans win more.

Brady might be a great candidate, but I don't put a lot of stock in this endorsement.

Todd, the "E" in "EMILY" stands for early. That's sort of their whole point. So, not surprising.

Stephen, you're right - their endorsement of Nikki Tinker was stupid. Which is why EMILY's List denounced the Tinker campaign and pulled the endorsement:

Was EMILYS list able to get the money back from Tinker they gave? I bet not...
Maybe had they been more patient they might seen Tinker for the stinker she was.

Denis - I can see your argument regarding the bump. I was never especially excited about Cogen, I voted for him and I like the work he has done on urban farming, but I never saw him as the second coming like some of the Oregonian's staff seemed to believe.

I am decidedly undecided on this race, but this endorsement really doesn't mean much to me for the reasons given above. If she got an SEIU endorsement on the other hand that would assuage one of my big concerns.

@ladies first: That's because this kind of endorsement isn't really supposed to get rank-and-file voters excited, or make up anyone's mind, etc. This is way more noteworthy because of what it could mean for Brady's campaign account.
