Wu may or may not have earned his pension, but he's definitely earned his stripes.

(And don't be dissing furries, Sarah, you'll hurt their feelings and the campout will end up being kind of awkward.)
2
The photo is pretty much the most innocuous thing he did (who doesn't have silly halloween pics of themselves, work or not?) but it tipped the crazy scale for the public, I think.
3
Goldshmidt, Packwood, Sam Adams, and now Wu.
4
PDX is right about the photo. I don't think a halloween pic makes a good case for a mental breakdown.
Unfair perception, but hey...
But Sarah, worrying about Wu being seen as a 'furry' ???? Really Sarah? Really?
Most people have no idea what it even is. C'mon now.
5
HEY! The wonderful thing about tiggers is I'M the only one!
6
@ 4, complete agreement. Very few people know what a furry is - they're just trying to make him look nuts, and making an aggressive pass (or worse) at the 18 year old daughter of a donor/friend makes him nuts, so the pic fits.
7
frankie, if you don't understand the difference between what Goldschmidt did and what Adams did, you are as fucking dumb as your posts would have us believe. Go back to your church, clown.
8
Hey faceless little bitch sdf....
If anything, the Packwood example is the one that doesn't fit dumbass, as he is the only one not accused of sexual impropiety with a teenager.
But what do they all have in common?
Men in Power abusing their power towards sexual ends.
9
You actually took time to explain yourself to a troll? Go back to your church, clown.
10
Athiests don't have churches.
Stay on topic.
11
The only thing Adams and Wu have in common at this point is that both were wrongly accused of having sex with a minor. If Wu raped or tried to rape someone he should go to jail, if it was consensual we should mind our own business.
12
You guys see a Furry, I see a man that knows how to cut loose and have a good time.
13
And I'd take 1000 furries over one hipster. (My hometown of Pittsburgh *loves* Anthrocon....)
14
Legal don't make it right.
Legal or not they both have abused their power for sex.
I'd prefer our Representatives keep their sex life out of the news.
15
Furry or not, he was a failure as a tiger... he didn't even hold his hands like paws. C'MON, GET INTO IT A LITTLE!
16
Right or wrong is a value judgement Frank, I don't trust the most conservative elements of our society to be the arbiters of what is allowed. Many people think gay sex or sex outside of marriage are wrong and I really just don't give a fuck, I would prefer we stick to a nice bright line of legality so the same rules apply to everyone.

Just because someone has power and has sex doesn't mean they abused their power for sex. No jobs were threatened, nobody was told they would go to prison if they didn't give it up.

I would prefer if the newspaper kept out of peoples sex life. I am still pissed about Weiner, dude should not have had to resign over sexting. Wu is different because there is a possibility he raped someone, but I still wish the Oregonian's source had gone to the cops first rather than the paper. If he ends up being innocent I will not feel justice was served, even if fucking an 18 year old is kinda skeevy by my thinking.
17
Whaddaya mean "No one's saying he's a furry"?! Doesn't Graham count:

?

Oh wait, you may be on to something.
18
Value-judgements are part of our everyday lives whether we like it or not.
And while a person in power having sex doesn't necessarily mean they abused their power, when you look at it in the context of a politician past 40 making it with a easily influenced teen, I think the case can easily be made he or she is abusing their power.
Legal, sure. But Ethical? Nope.
Abuse of Power is not limited to a job threatened, a raise withheld, or prison.
I expect my elected officials to have the realization that they cannot effectively lead or legislate if they are hobbled by such shenanigans in the eyes of their voters or fellow congressman, and act accordingly.
There are many examples of this both with Wu and Adams - and a host of other politicians.
They shoulda fucking known better, and if they didn't they shouldn't be in the position to begin with.
Weiner should have had sense enough to realize that his sexting would become public fodder at some point and not ran for office.
However, I still feel bad for Clinton, as Congress hired a guy to just look for dirt on him and the only thing he could find was an extramarital hummer in the White House. Starr shouldn't have been given that job to begin with.
Discretion.
We Americans come from sexual puritan stock, it is true.
I realize I may seem puritanical, but believe me when I say I am far, far from it.
Our elected officails should be above reproach as much as possible.

Frankie, if you still think Adams was the aggressor in that situation, you need to go revisit the news from WW during that scandal. Dude's dog is named Lolita ferchrissakes.
20
I saw Breedlove in the park by my house back when, walking the dogs with my wife.
He was collecting recall signitures.
21
He's going to be a part of Wu Tang Clan... rimshot
22
I think there is an argument for saying what Clinton did was worse than Adams - same age gap, both got a blowjob only one was at the office with a subordinate and one was at home with a non-employee, also Clinton was married. I don't think you are being consistent.
23
Sure, you can make an argument for which is worse, but I don't know that it really matters in practical terms. I feel bad for Clinton the way he was exposed about it (rather than Adams own staffers leaking it out), but in the big picture Clinton screwed up far worse as he had much more responsibility. I would agree.
Already you can read differing views from Historians wondering what Clinton could have accomplished had he not become entangled in a sex scandal. The 'what if' questions.
Same for Adams.
24
@ pinehurstkid..you beat me to it ya bastard! @Franklieb, agree about Clinton even though I disliked some of his choices (Somalia, then again that likely was due to his advisers), I do think things would different had he finished his term. I only care about Adams in regard to his job, which the last time I checked was'nt limited to social glad handing and pandering to small special interest groups. I expect more from him.
25
Wu will get to finish his term. If you think they will solve this debt problem you must be stoned in a tiger suit.

I'm having a hard time understanding the controversy. The girl was 18 not 12, as I understand it. Every chick has had an "unwanted sexual advance" happen at one time or another. It'd be great if every sexual advance I got was "wanted" (and what does that imply?). Sometimes the guy doesn't know if it's wanted until he makes the advance. I'm more worried about his mental state in general than that particular incident. And as for the age difference: grow up and mind your own business people.

Please wait...
