R.I.P.E.M.
2
good riddance to whiny 80s college pop
3
This would be sadder if it happened in 1998.
4
They will be missed.
Saw them for the 'Green' tour in Frankfurt. Great show.
5
Good things don't last forever.
6
15 years overdue.
7
Steve R you are a tool.
May you have Warrant songs stuck in your head all day.
8
That said it was of course, past time to happen.
9
They haven't been good for years, but this still bums me out.
10
Does it say something that I assume that every headline reading, "NNNOOOOOOO!" has to do with Darth Vader?
11
"Life And How To Live It" off 'Reconstruction ..' still rocks.
And I still have no idea what in the hell he is singing.

@D, I may be a tool, but what's the big deal... it's not like Stipe died or something. They'll do a dumb fucking reunion tour in a few years, and meanwhile, you can tune in to KINK (or whatever oldies pop station) and be bombarded with a non-stop REM wankfest for the next few days.
13
This actually happened like 15 years ago when Bill Berry left.

Steve R, "whiny 80s college pop" is just not accurate. Stipe isn't whiny, compared to most indie rockers or even most hard rockers. Mills backup vocals aren't whiny. 2011 "collapse into now" is 21 years out of the 80's and might even recapture some of their good years. College? Sure, they went to college for a while, but your category of "college pop" is also bullshit-- name a significant set, and defining features, for us if you will.

Sorry someone pissed in your cheerios this morning. Keep it to yourself while others pay respects.

Spoolo, in effect, sez: "You're mean! Stipe's not whiny, and neither am I."

Somebody call a WAAAAH-bulance, quick!
16
Nah, you're just plain wrong. And bordering on troll, given your vapid but inciting responses.

Please wait...
