The article in the O also said that witnesses didn't try to help. She went in at "about 2:45 a.m." and police didn't arrive until 2:58. That's a lot of standing around, watching someone drown. That's the sad part!

Reymont, according to Oregon Live, the water there is 34 feet deep. What can the average onlooker do in a case like this? Also, since it happened at approx 2:45 AM, most of the witnesses were probably under the influence of alcohol.
