"After heading in an own-goal in the 51st minute (a score that was inexplicably changed to credit Philly's Gabriel Gomez)... "

Philly's goal was rightfully credited to Gomez and not an own goal. The shot was on frame, and deflections happen all the time in soccer. If a goal-bound shot takes a random tip along the way, it's still a goal for the shooter. If, however, the original shot had been heading wide, or was a cross, etc., and it was the deflection itself that caused the ball to go on-frame and in the net, it's an own goal.
