I feel derpy about saying this because others have already pointed it out last time Paul said this same thing but: nobody is pressing Romney because he didn't "recruit" Nugent. That is a dumb leap of logic that doesn't need to be used just because the right uses it.
@c&b that's where you're wrong; let me tell you why.
Mitt DID "recruit" Nugent. In fact, they had a nice, long conversation about what Nugent wanted from Mitt in order to get his endorsement. There is more than a tenuous connection between the two and Mitt should be held accountable.
From the Texas Tribune:
It was on a phone call with the candidate earlier today that Nugent gave his blessing. He talked to Romney by phone while he was at a sporting goods store in Michigan "celebrating the orgy of guns and ammos and bows and arrows ..."
Before endorsing him, Nugent demanded that Romney pledge there would be no new gun laws or restrictions on Second Amendment rights in his administration. Romney obliged. Nugent also warned Romney about the "out of control" U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.
"These are not Ted Nugent demands," he said. "They're logic demands. They're 'we the people' demands. They're right over wrong, good over bad."
I am shocked. SHOCKED. That a Presidential candidate for the Republican party has been tied to a person who has made outrageous, borderline deranged remarks. This is a new and disturbing development for the GOP.
Also, I will always and forever cherish Nugent for crafting the music that usually accompanied my dad smashing beer cans on his forehead. Clearly an important man.

Here's Nugent's tweet about it:

And, of course, the most ridiculous thing here is not that Nugent is a bigot (old news), but that he thinks he's relevant.
