On both sides, it's an interesting peek into how campaigns are actually run. Although I don't see there being an active connection between Wells Fargo and Holton. I'd assume this kind of arrangement is commonplace for renting out campaign space. Interesting fact; I’m glad you shared it.

So that said, the arrangement between Rosenblum and the WW leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I know very little about each campaigns actual stance on the issues, so it’s hard to really comment. Newspapers should excuse themselves from any campaign contribution.

I don't ever see any WW ads except those on the crossword puzzle page. I don't think any of those ladies are running for an office.
3
GODDAMN their GoT-themed election articles are so horrendous. You were right, Erik.

I think WW's status as an "independent" paper needs to be revoked.

Also, it is pretty bullshit they pull this after shitting on Adams for years. I am not fan of Adams but the sanctimonious bile that the WW has been hurling for years on Adams was and still over top .... enough to veer on yellow journalism.

Between their turn towards the right and their shady business in the background, why wouldn't they be called out at this point? I mean I like some of their restaurant reviews but their political coverage has become really ify.

I thought the Merc's whole thing was that impartiality is a myth.

Now, now, let's not discount James Pitkins mind-blowing discovery that students at Reed sometimes use drugs.

That was SO wierd, cause we did those at my school, too! Coinkeedink?

Cutting edge journalism.

I asked you to report more on WW's inexcusable behavior, pointed you to info about the 15K gift, and then you followed through! Thanks for rewarding my time and attention! (And I don't at all blame you for choosing to keep the name "bonerjam" out of your article). Well done you guys!

Thanks, bonerjam! But in fairness, you weren't the only person to make the connection—you were just the only person to do so publicly, in the comments. My question: Is bonerjam something you spread on toast? (Gross) Or something you sheepishly slink into the ER to have looked at? (Ouch)

It is not "renting out campaign space." It is giving Dwight Holton a downtown office, phones, meeting rooms, reception, and probably parking space(s) for free for 4 months prior to the primary election, without reporting it as a campaign contribution. Such space and amenities is worth at least $1000 per month.
