@ 3, I am intrigued by your reasoned conclusions and wish you to explore them in a bit more depth.

I am a Unitarian and this is what I have to say about it:
Compassion & Controversy: A Message for Unconditional Love
http://reasonable-thought.blogspot.com/2012/06/compassion-controversy-message-for.html

It seems to me that we can speculate about how things would be different if Josh were a UU or a member of the UCC or a child of a same sex union, but he isn't. In the end, it seems like we should all start from the reality that we actually have. Christianity has a huge sway in this country and in terms of marriage equality, that isn't a good thing right now. But it is the reality we have, so is it possible or even likely that people will hold Josh up as an example of how people ought to behave? Yes!

Do we have to let them get away with it? No!

Maybe it will be our job to ask, "I see you know about Josh's story, but I'm not sure you really got the message he was delivering. I think it is inappropriate to hold him up as an example of how to be, but ignore the fact that he said homosexual people don't need to be told how to live, they can figure that out for themselves. Our job is simply to extend love."

I would have liked to see Josh Weed support marriage equality in Washington State.

That would have resoundingly confirmed that all he is saying about respecting individual choices is true, and therefore he is not harming young gay patients who are disturbed about being gay.

But he didn't.

Your style of writing is crude, it's obvious you are prejudiced against religion, so if I may borrow from your preferred use of language, I think you are "FUCKED UP!" Everyone's entitled to an opinion, so "suck on that". As for unicorn Josh, good on him!

Please wait...
