Even the campaign's version of the letter implies either that Charlie Hales was on the tour, or that he is an omniscient narrator. And do we really want an omniscient narrator as mayor?

"And do we really want an omniscient narrator as mayor?"

Only if it's Morgan Freeman.

"Because Portlanders out to be able to rely on the Oregonian to report the truth or at least admit it"

ah-hahaha! Oh Charlie, you're hilarious.

I'm all for fights with the idiots at the Oregonian, but this seems a tad, uhhhhhh, unmayoral?

I should add that I don't exactly like either candidate.

Todd's right - you are being pretty generous to your pick for mayor, Denis, in saying "a careless reader" might read that Charlie was claiming to be on the tour.

Also, now Charlie has gone from saying he signed something without reading it to it got sent without him seeing it? Where does the buck stop, Charlie?

Curious to find out the truth. Obviously, someone needs an answer from the Review. Hard to imagine anyone editing a letter from a candidate to put words in their mouth, but then I'm guessing the St. John's Review is not the most professional of all papers.

Still, Hales' staff could pull an earlier draft out of anywhere, so it is hardly convincing.

Please wait...
