"To use his overdone phrasing, "the fact of the matter is" that President Obama made his own job a hell of a lot tougher."

Then why vote for him? Seriously. If he had a good record he wouldn't be in this predicament. Now that he has to confront his record in front of the American people, it doesn't look good. You know, I don't think Obama is a terrible man. I think he makes terrible decisions and gets caught up in the fact that his handlers kiss his ass instead of telling him the truth.

That truth was present last night. Paul Constant can sugarcoat it all he wants but it doesn't stop the reality heading our way.

Libbies can take this opportunity to be decent human beings and leave the lies and smears out of it. May the best man win kinda deal. If not.....well.... maybe you deserve what you get.

This was going to be spun as a Romney win before the debate even happened. These major media outlets are businesses that have an interest in keeping people interested and tuned in every day. That doesn't happen if you keep reporting a 5-8 point lead and likely win for the incumbent. Since we live in a country of mindless sheep, poll numbers can always be nudged one way or the other by portraying the candidates in different lights. (I'm only referring to the pres. race here, but it of course applies to everything else.)

Okay so here's what happens next: The VP debate is spun as a win for Ryan, and Romney pulls into a dead heat in the important battleground polls (maybe ahead in a couple). Then the foreign policy debate happens and Obama is spun as the winner of that. Slight poll lead again. Finally, the town hall debate is spun as a draw, but it's noted that in it Romney overcame the image of him being a robot. This will bring us to election day with Obama slightly ahead in the important battleground polls, but still within the 3 point margin of error.

I watched the debate. While I will concede that the media does love a good controversy, Romney clearly won this round. That might make people a little angry but that doesn't change the truth. Most people know it. Those who don't, like Paul Constant, will report it how they see it, regardless of accuracy or reality. He blatantly lied in an article about Romney yesterday. Why believe anything he says? I feel the same about Glenn Beck. They are both whores for their ideology and unable to compromise in their views. While they are certainly entitled to their opinions, it doesn't make those opinions right. The best leaders work with the other side and get shit done.

Those who don't compromise should expect one term.

I, for one, will only vote for a president who supports indefinite detentions for US citizens via the NDAA, the war on drugs, the TSA, aiding dictators, corporate bailouts, the Patriot Act, war with Iran, Syria, Pakistan, Somalia, Libya all without Congressional consent, trade wars with China, and especially the unlimited derivati...I mean bond buying scheme via the private Federal Reserve.......So it doesn't really matter which one I vote for.

I hope this will scare the shit out of everyone and convince them that they'd better fucking vote. Also, as I said when I spilled coffee on my pants, at least it's not Santorum.

Well, regardless of what the fucking morons like SJR & Paul Constant thinks about the elections, there's hard numbers to judge:

Intrade has Obama listed at 68.8 (up from 66.6 this morning) trading at $6.85 a share. (Romney at %31.2 win, at $3.18 share)

Fivethiryeight has Obama with a 86.1% chance of winning.

If you really think Romney is going to win, I'll buy your shares on Intrade, and laugh all the way to the bank come November. So, put your money where your mouth is, and pony up $50 or $100 bucks. I'll be watching trading prices today.

Also, I totally agree with Spindles.

Overall I thought the debate was pretty tame in the 'moving the needle' department. Obama didn't do as well as he could have. Romney did (a lot) better than his campaigning leading up to the debate indicated he would do. The post-debate spin seems to be really heavy handed in making-it-look-like-Romney-did-better-than-he-did-so-polling-numbers-will-go-up-so-more-people-will-be-interested-in-the-election-so-more-major-news-corporations-will-sell-more-advertising. That narrative seemed to come out stronger than anything else from last night. I agree with @bluespdx comments about how that narrative will continue to be force-fed to us, regardless of anything major happening on the campaign trail.

I'll agree with the "media" that say O flopped in the debate, and that the comeback story was written well before the debate started yesterday.

What I don't think is being thoroughly discussed is the ridiculous level of fabrication in Mitt's performance. For example, that he can stand there and say he hasn't been campaigning on $5T in tax cuts for 18 months - 6 years is pretty bold, and utter bullshit.

Someone wordier than me said this was really a "triumph of style over substance"

Kudos to Romney for using his time during unemployment to prepare better than Obama. Now, do it again, only speak with facts, not "facts" this time.

TM: People will vote. Just don't be so quick to think a big turn out will favor the incumbent. Especially given his record, for which he must now account. If last night is any indication, Romney will continue to hand Obama his ass on the economy, which affects us all.

Farticulate: G.W.B. two wars excuses trillions added to the deficit excuses certain victory excuses nervous laughter excuses smear maybe you should lie a little more smear tactics that smear the Repugs who block poor president every step of the way because the Teabaggers and Santorum excuses anger because of impotence smears and finally tears.

It's almost like the title of a Fiona Apple album. Almost....

Two words for you. November 6th.

Please wait...
