.@KMM_OR posted several Twitpic photos of the confrontation, in which she says a Homeland Security officer pointed his weapon directly at her. We put up a gallery of her photos on our NozzlNews/PDX Facebook page shortly after the incident. You can see them at http://on.fb.me/Q8S5uR

Totally armed vs. no arms at all. So we see again that the police are ... lice.

the park closes at 10pm, kids. go home and quit acting like bearded 5-year-olds upset about mama slapping your hand after she told you 18 times not to touch the glass figurine.....but you had to touch it anyway, because you're a 5-year-old.

'time out' for the lot of you.

you feel so indignant and so oppressed, i know -- it's a hard life, having to vacate public parks when it's closing time.

you're mad and passionate, only (if you're honest with yourself) you're not even sure about what, so you just stomp your feet and bitch about 'the man' keeping you down.

damn right they're armed -- they've got to worry about some of you nutters (like beard-fuck in the video) snapping and doing something stupid over nothing.

(yes, i sometimes have a beard, too, but i don't wear it in parks that are closed while taunting law enforcement over trivial-ass shit.)

Go ahead and protest, just follow the park rules. It's not onerous to leave at 10 pm, or whatever. Go to Pioneer Courthouse Square, I know it's open much later.

Why, you say they didn't go to Pioneer CS? Because there wasn't a conflict with police or authority figures in which they could instigate problems, because that's what this movement has turned into.

It's not even about the 99% anymore. That faded after the first week.

Homeland Security: jack boots, head-to-toe black armor, giant honkin' weapons, thousand-yard stares, and black tape over their names & badge numbers. Willing to crack skulls to enforce an imaginary line. This is the standing army that our founding fathers warned us about. I feel sorry for those who make excuses for these well-armed domestic terrorists.
6
"trivial ass shit"??

riiiiiight. keep suckin' that cock, wannabe-human.
7
Does it seem strange to anyone else that the powers that be feel it necessary to send that many police in riot gear to protect a public park from "a few dozen protestors"? Or that our Homeland Security Officers are willing to shoot unarmed people in the face at almost point blank range with projectile weapons? Is free speech really that dangerous?
8
Extremely unprofessional behavior, from coming out with badge numbers covered to threatening unarmed citizens who have a perfectly legitimate right and EVERY REASON to protest against a government that protects and defends the 1% and oppresses the rest of us.
It won't be much longer before someone gets killed at a Portland protest.
Will it be by police who have covered up their names and badge numbers with duct tape?
Unacceptable. How can you possibly defend this?
9
This rather confirms the statistic that you are 8 times more likely to be killed by a cop than by a terrorist.

@ tracy:

don't get me wrong: most, if not all, of what OWS is protesting against is anything but 'trivial ass shit' -- agreed.

something needs to be done now, and not just a superficial paint job.

what *is* trivial ass shit, however, is hanging out in parks after they're closed while taunting and throwing shit at cops, whining about how you're being oppressed -- the cops can't change the laws and legal loopholes you're supposedly protesting against, dumbasses.....

these cops have families and financial problems just like everyone else -- if you were in their shoes, you too would be ready to shoot a few bean-bags at some idiot kid that's intent on injuring you in the name of some ill-thought-out protest.

it's not the cops that caused this whole situation about which you're protesting -- it's the lawmakers, stupids -- perhaps you should taunt them instead.....or, i don't know, vote?
11
"i don't know, vote?"

hahaha, you're a dumbass. Just shut up when adults are talking, okay? In the meantime, ask yourself how many times in all of human history that “lawmakers” have actually been accountable to regular citizens.

Police could have avoided the whole conflict by writing citations for violating park hours. Instead, they showed up with riot cops and looked for a fight. Cops have the ability, just like protesters, to show discretion and not be turds.

Like I said in previous comments this is why I don't go to these things anymore.

But yeah, from what I can tell from the video, these protesters were acting like assholes. So, how does a free society deal with assholes (that is to say, how do you deal with assholes since you lack a badge)? Easy: you avoid them. The cops should have left the park and deescalated the situation.

Here's a chant for next time: "Fire that, we fire back."
12
"Fire that, we fire back."

that'll help end things peacefully. that'll spread goodwill. please. it's all so simple, isn't it? arm everyone and peace will reign.

yeah, and they should've just written them all citations, as you say -- that would've ended it all right then and there -- easy!!

lawmakers aren't often held accountable to regular citizens precisely because so many of us fail to vote and/or stick to our guns (whoops -- did i just give you a boner by using the 'g' word?) when calling these people out.

you're not a complete idiot, fa, but sometimes you let your poop come out through your mouth instead of your asshole.....try to work on that before you stink this place up any more than it already does.
13
I was there, filming a live unedited stream of the entire encounter. Show me one example of a protester throwing anything.

I understand people yelling at cops doesn't help. You need to understand that those are people who have been beaten, pepper sprayed, and/or arrested for completely peaceful protests in the past. They have every right to be angry about this kind of repression.

It was "illegal" for the Civil Rights movement to march through the streets, too, but that was one of their chosen acts of civil disobedience, to force the issue. Standing on grass across the street from City Hall... does that really deserve black-clad storm troopers wearing more armor than soldiers in Afghanistan?

Okay so for anyone who will reads this...
The badges were covered up not by duck tape or to upset you, but because it's a federal way on honoring another federal officer who has past away recently. This is why the badges were covered up because someone recently pasted away. The badge is actually covered up with a small elastic band that wraps around the badge. Thanks and I hope this makes sense.
15
@Laurel – what federal officer died? Why was the “name and number” of the officer covered, rather than just the badge? Were the federal agents really so stupid as to think that it was appropriate to honor a fallen comrade by doing this at a political rally where violence was likely to be used?

@Human – Don’t worry my friend, someday Reality will hit you in the face. “Reality” is the name of a Ofc. Fuckurshitup’s baton. Seriously, spend twenty minutes searching for an actual example of lawmakers being accountable to citizens. It’s a fantasy, stop pretending like the shit from 7th grade civics classes is actually true, and actually get involved in advocating for something positive. You never have, and it’s entirely obvious. Just turn off the TV and hit the streets.

Here’s the truth: when you work to change the system, you will be met with violence. Voting is (for the most part) and illusion created in order to keep people passive, and even if it was a functioning option, the elites would simply undermine and rig the vote if they thought the election could threaten their power (see: Republican attempts to block minorities from voting all across this country, or “Water Gate”). Even further example: Measure 80 & OMMP, democratically decided legalization that is undone by the elites. To compound these problems, “democracy” is dependent upon accurate news sources, and public education – two things are society lacks entirely. So, how far can “democracy” really take you? Not very far, especially in the most consequential issues of our society. You don’t have to believe me right now, but I’m not bullshiting you, I’ve walked the walk to make positive change, including voting, political parties, lobbying in D.C., Salem, and at City Council, and all the “legit” stuff – so just remember my words for later: don’t vote, buy a gun.

@fidelity_axiom
Federal officers are NOT required to give their badge numbers and names out like a Portland police would have to. Also federal officers are not stupid. They are nowhere near that. The badges were already covered up prior to this event. And the federal officer who recently pasted away was a border patrol officer who was shot in a shoot out.
17
Thanks, Laurel, I did read the article which explained the same thing. "…federal officers are not stupid." I don't know what planet you’re from, but where I live, federal agents are the most worthless, child-molesting, constitution-violating bureaucrats in government.

Nicholas Ivie was shot October 2nd, so I think it was pretty stupid for Federal Officers to cover their “name and number” before engaging the public at an event that was likely to result in the use-of-force, especially 5 days after the officer was killed. Especially when use-of-force has been a hot button topic. When would be a more inappropriate time for agents to cover their “name and number?” They’re truly stupid, or wholly incompetent, if they didn’t have the forethought to consider covering their “name and number” would incite anger against the officers. Perhaps they’ve just never dealt with the public before, which is why they had no idea how inflammatory their actions would be, and which is only further evidence of how unnecessary their agency is.
18
Laurel, are you talking about the one maybe killed by "friendly fire" accident?

Please wait...
