I do think Portland theaters could stand to look at plays that a. had more race-blind casting and/or b. were about the contemporary experience of racism. The closest thing that comes to mind would be Portland Playhouse's "Brother/Sister Plays" from 2012, but that show wasn't necessarily about contemporary racism, but more about the African American experience in general.
