I'm super relieved to hear that Oblivion is kind of good. I was ashamed of myself for wanting to see it after watching the trailer. Too bad it stars Tom Cruise though -- it might have done better in sci-fi crowds without him.

I had almost the exact same reaction as Melonga. Good to hear that it is better than I would have expected.

I liked about 80 percent of Oblivion, and I really liked about 40 percent of it a LOT. I'm really curious to hear what other people make of it, as it does straddle an awkward gap between mainstream action blockbuster and arty, broody, emo-sci-fi (both of which can be great on their own terms). I suspect it will fizzle, but it doesn't deserve to.

In other words, pretty much everything Erik already said.

Tom Cruise is a great actor. Any one who says differently clearly is a bigot.

Oblivion pulls off the great sci fi trick of being visceral and thought provoking while also being incredibly derivative of other, better films. I loved it, but it's hard to say if there was an original thought in there.

I am excited to see this. I could give not a single fuck Tom Cruise is in it either way

Ditto what The Showstopper said.
