Sometimes I feel like raw onions. Any burger tending towards "loose" (softish bun, less-than-compact burger) is well served by raw onions. Sweet raw onions don't have the same bite as others, too.
But sometimes I'm in a sauteed onion mood. They fit perfecttly when the bun is more compact.
