Hey Homer, how about we put them in the fancy pearl hotel you are building right next to the ramp you don't want R2D2 under. You have brand new empty rooms and they need shelter. Take a clue from that Jesus fellow for once, how rich do you need to be.
Can't decide who I dislike more in all this: the clueless bleeding-heart homeless advocates or the frumpy deep-pocketed Pearl District crybabies. All I know is that I hope they're stuck being neighbors for a long, long time.
Deep pocketed? According to Census data, every other district in Multnomah county has at least 10% higher household income and a significantly lower poverty level than the district in which the Pearl is located. That's due in part because Pearl developers such as Homer have incorporated low-income housing seamlessly into the Pearl district - not by making rash decisions to house them under bridges in tents. http://www.portlandonline.com/portlandplan/index.cfm?c=52257&a=288629 and http://www.portlandonline.com/portlandplan/index.cfm?c=52257&a=288632
